Lease Agreement - Shared, On Property
The Lease Agreement - Shared, On Property is suitable for leases where the owner and lessee share the horse and share the maintenance costs. This lease is for an “on property” arrangement (ie. the horse lives with the owner). The agreement is 7 pages in total and includes the following:
horse to be kept at the owner’s property;
set the term (length of the lease) and price (can be $0 weekly if free lease);
define shared use (ie. X number of days per week);
specify permitted use of horse and what is not permitted;
owner pays for feed;
maintenance cost split is entirely customisable in the contract (ie. each cost is listed and can be allocated to either the lessee or the owner);
insurance clause (can be crossed out and deleted if the horse is not insured);
accident and emergency protocol;
basic warranties: full disclosure of any health and soundness conditions, vices or behavioural issues required;
liability and indemnity clause; and
standard termination provisions to bring lease to an end.
